After an incredible weekend of racing on the Solent, we’re taking a moment to reflect on the Ocean Impact Project, delivered in partnership with Emirates, ahead of SailGP's Portsmouth debut event. At the end of May, we joined forces with Blue Marine Foundation and the Emirates Great Britain SailGP Team to support the Solent Oyster Restoration Project — a large-scale effort to restore native oyster populations to these vital waters. The Solent, our racetrack for the Emirates Great Britain Sail Grand Prix, relies on a thriving oyster population to maintain its ecological health and resilience. Visiting Emsworth Yacht Harbour, we teamed up for an activation including oyster cage exploration to learn about their role in the ecosystem, observing oysters in their natural environment within the Solent and more.
